Publishing a book can seem like a daunting task. As many of you know, we work to simplify the process and explain the steps as clearly as we can. Inevitably, people still have questions and I wanted to take a minute to answer the most common.
What type of books does Aloha publish?
We love publishing books that inspire, teach, and raise the standard of personal and professional concepts. For example, we do coffee table books (my favorite), company histories, business books, some types of health books, and books that are useful for speaking, business, training, or teaching.
Occasionally we will publish a memoir or a children’s book if we believe we are a good fit with the author.
We also love to do book remakes. We love taking a book that has already been published, doing minor rewrites and some editing, and then giving it an updated book cover and interior design.
How long does the publishing process take?
Working in concert with our clients, we can go from idea to interviews to innovative products in four to eight months. Click HERE to learn more about our publishing process.
How much does it cost to get my manuscript from idea to book-in-hand?
There is no perfect answer to this question because we are a completely custom publisher. The more information you can give us, including title and subtitle ideas, first-draft manuscript, author biography, dedication, acknowledgments, and cover suggestions, the less it will cost you. Book projects can run anywhere from $2,500 to $50,000 depending on if you use a ghostwriter for an elite level book.
The question to ask is, “How much can I leverage in new opportunities by writing a book?” Typically, I see business authors increase their speaking and consulting fees 3x once they have a book. Being an author makes a difference.
Remember that book sales are not the ideal measurement of return on investment.
How do you think AI (artificial intelligence) will impact publishing in the future?
I believe readers will continue to recognize excellent writing. The human brain is an awesome computer and will always create the best ideas. AI will be great for helping with book titles, social media, and book outlines which will give authors more time to write authentic stories and share their expertise in a uniquely human way.
What other questions do you have about publishing? We would love to address them in upcoming blog posts.
